Anxiety, depression, social function, activity level, pain, and performance problems with work due to physical limitations were assessed in women diagnosed with fibromyalgia who had been on sick leave at least three months. Twenty-six of the women were randomly selected to go through an eight-week program that taught an approach where tapping on acupuncture points (primarily within an EFT format) was the major clinical feature. The participants showed significant improvements compared to their initial scores and compared to a wait-list control group. The study, conducted by Gunilla Brattberg, M.D., was published in the journal Integrative Medicine, 2008, Vol 7, Issue 4, pages 30-35.
