Learn EFT/Tapping - One of The Most Effective Methods for Overcoming Trauma
Join Dr. David Feinstein for this rare opportunity to work with an award-winning pioneer in developing science-based innovative therapeutic approaches to healing stress and trauma. In this highly experiential workshop, Dr. Feinstein will demonstrate the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques/EFT Tapping to restore the physiological dysregulation that occurs after trauma so participants have an opportunity to access and accelerate a return to resiliency.
You will learn tools you can begin practicing immediately to regulate your physiology and relieve the stress of intrusive thoughts, feelings and memories related to the fires. You will be able to employ the skills you learn when you follow-up with the people you are bringing to the event.
A limited number of participants will work one-on-one with David in front of the group. The remainder will experience the methods in the privacy of their own chair. Research has shown that even those participating in the one-on-one work from a distance receive great benefits. Those you bring will have an opportunity to discuss their experiences with you at various points throughout the day.
EFT and its variations have been successfully applied in more than 30 countries following disasters. Over 150 peer-reviewed clinical trials support its efficacy.

Why Is This Approach So Effective?
Recent research at Harvard Medical School has documented that the most effective treatment for trauma seems to be found through Brain-Based Somatic Release Techniques including EFT. The stimulation of certain energy points on the body have been shown, through fMRI and PET scans, to calm the amygdala and stop the fight/flight/freeze response. These energy points send deactivating signals that reduce the threat response and activating signals that improve problem-solving and stress-management.
The result is that memories are retained, but they no longer carry an emotional intensity and “charge” to trigger the trauma response in the body, thus allowing a full healing of the original trauma. Also see disaster.energytapping.com
This gathering will provide emotional healing tools for you as a care provider and for those you bring to it.

Please READ Before Registering
Q. What qualifications are required for me to attend as a “medical or emotional care provider”?
A. This is determined by your activities since the fires, not your background. If you are in an official or semi-official capacity, providing medical or emotional care to at least one survivor of the fires, you are welcome to register.
Q. Are there restrictions on who I can bring?
A. Anyone who is seeking your help for the emotional aftermath of having suffered a loss or trauma in the fire may benefit. However, if the person is highly unstable or has a serious pre-existing psychiatric condition, please use your best judgment about bringing them to an event that is likely to bring up strong emotions. Please also understand that we are counting on the care providers to support the people they bring throughout the day and on follow-up.
Q. Can I attend if I don’t bring someone I am working with?
A. The design for the day involves interactions between the care giver and the person(s) he or she is serving, so we hope you can establish a relationship with a survivor who is willing to attend. You can still register and leave the section about who you are bringing blank, but priority will be given to those who can bring those they are working with. If you do register for only yourself, you will be notified two days prior to the event about whether you can attend.
Q. I am in need of the emotional support this event promises, but I don’t have a care provider or my care provider can’t attend.
A. Unfortunately, the design of the day requires pairing with a care provider. If you are in need of emotional support, begin by trying to find someone who can provide it. You can start by contacting Maui Nui Strong or The Hawaii State Department of Health. If you have a care provider who can’t come, see if he or she can hook you up with a colleague who would like to attend.
ALSO, a workshop is being offered (Oct 14-15) on the use of energy methods for trauma that you can attend. More information at sunshinemind.us/maui-events-wailuku-lahaina.
Q. The event is being videotaped – what if I or one of the people I am bringing don’t want to be videoed?
A. Individuals who volunteer to be a demo subject are agreeing to be videotaped. Anyone else can, at the end of the day, request not to be included in any audience shots. Please make all of this clear to the people you are bringing. The video will be used exclusively for training and educational purposes.
Q. What if I have other questions?
A. You may write [email protected]. This event is 100% volunteer staffed, and we will get back as soon as we can, but please be patient.
